Therapeutic Musician Presentations

Therapeutic Musicians are frequently asked to talk to various audiences about their services. These might include health care facility staff or volunteers and civic clubs who are interested in raising money to support palliative care organizations. Musicians also should look for opportunities to give interviews to the local media. Alice Freeman and Alison Ware have shared examples of media interviews in Comfort for the Dying and Pulling strings to soothe the pain.

The National Standards Board for Therapeutic Musicians (www.nsbtm.org) has a wonderful kit for sale for $35 called a Presentation Planner. Please visit the NSBTM Web site and click on the link to the Presentation Planner. This kit was prepared by working therapeutic musicians to help people with job interviews, educating facilities about therapeutic music, arranging Internships, giving 5-minute elevator speeches or organizing demonstration sessions from 15 minutes to an hour.
