Alice Freeman attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a 4-year music scholarship and played violin and viola in the University of Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra. She has also played in semi-professional orchestras in Wisconsin and Wyoming. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a teaching certificate and has taken additional courses at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Wyoming. Alice played viola in the University of Wyoming Symphony for ten years and has played pedal harp with the UW Symphony since 1999. Alice was certified as a healing musician with the International Healing Musician's Program in 2008 and maintains a busy practice providing soothing harp music at bedside in many local health care facilities. Alice teaches beginning and intermediate Celtic harp or hammered dulcimer by ear or with music. Her current memberships include the American Harp Society, the World Harp Congress, the International Society of Folk Harpers and Craftsmen, the Representatives Council of the National Standards Board for Therapeutic Musicians, the Scottish Harp Society of America, the Colorado Celtic Harp Society, the Cimbalom World Association (hammered dulcimer) and the American String Teachers Association.

Growing up in a musical family, Alice had many opportunities to perform classical and folk music on piano, violin, viola and guitar as a child. She loved arranging music for family ensembles. When her own children were growing up, Alice taught American Red Cross First Aid Classes and worked as a computer software trainer for the University of Wyoming. The entire family spent many happy weekends downhill skiing. Alice and her husband were members of the Snowy Range Volunteer Ski Patrol for over 25 years. Alice took early retirement from the University in 2007 to devote all her time to sharing her music.
